Autumn 1 Spellings

Spelling is a key element in learning how to read and write. 

Below are the spellings we will be learning this half term and it would be great if you could practise these at home with your child. 

You could try: 

Say it, write it, read it: have your child say the word aloud, write it down, and then read it back. 

Rainbow writing: write each letter of the word in a different colour.

Air writing: trace the word in the air with a finger before writing. 

Spelling races: give your child a set amount of time (e.g. a minute) and see how many times they can write one of their spellings before the time is up.
